9. Janice Dickinson
Janice Dickinson has lived a very interesting life and she has recorded bits and pieces of it in three different memoirs. Her first one, titled “No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of the World’s First Supermodel”, details her wild ways during the ‘60s and ‘70s; her second one, “Everything About Me is Fake… And I’m Perfect,” is about her experiences with plastic surgery and her struggles with anorexia, bulimia and alcoholism; and her last one, “Check Please! Dating, Mating, and Extricating,” discusses the men in her life, as well as her rules for dating.

Jane Fonda wrote a surprisingly candid and engaging autobiography titled “My Life So Far,” which describes her life in three acts, with each divided into thirty years. In the first act, she discusses her childhood, her first films and her marriage to Roger Vadim. During the second act, she divulges details on her experience as an activist, her career taking off and her marriages to Tom Hayden and then Ted Turner. The third act, which is the present, is where Fonda starts living consciously, inspiring others to learn from her experiences.

In 2001, Anne Heche – who was only in her early 30s at the time – released a memoir titled “Call Me Crazy.” While some might expect it to contain details about some of her more high profile relationships and her very public nervous breakdown, the memoir does not contain any that. Instead it offers some uncomfortable insights into Heche’s upbringing in a Christian fundamentalist household and the shocking details on how her father – who turned out to be gay and died of AIDS in the early ‘80s – sexually abused her throughout her childhood.

Dolly Parton’s autobiography “Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business” is candid and heartfelt. She discusses growing up dirt-poor, making it big, her open marriage with her husband Carl Dean, her inability to have children and all of the cosmetic surgery she has had. The memoir also includes hillbilly makeup tips (she used to use Mercurochrome for lipstick and pokeberry juice for rouge) as well as some interesting diet tips (chew food, but don’t swallow it).

In the late ‘90s, Mia Farrow released a memoir, “What Falls Away,” about her life growing up in Hollywood, her marriages to Frank Sinatra and Andre Previn, all the children she adopted and her bizarre relationship with Woody Allen. She goes into detail about the director/comedian’s neurotic behavior, how he seduced one of her adopted daughters who was only 17-years-old at the time and how he possibly molested another daughter they adopted together. Farrow also talks about her custody battle with Allen and how he had nothing to do with her or her children after he lost.

Izabella St. James – who used to date Hugh Hefner back when he had several girlfriends all at once – wrote “Bunny Tales: Behind Closed Doors at the Playboy Mansion,” a tell-all memoir about her experiences living at the Playboy Mansion. While it provides a pretty detailed account of what life is like on a day-to-day basis, it also includes some pretty lurid details about what goes on sexually with Hef and his bevy of girlfriends.

In 2001, Victoria Beckham released an autobiography, “Learning to Fly,” which documents her childhood, her tenure with the Spice Girls, her marriage to David Beckham, details on their family life and what she was doing career-wise at that point. Portia de Rossi released an autobiography in 2010 called “Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain” where she talks about her past struggles with anorexia and bulimia, being a closeted lesbian and the pressure she felt in modeling and acting to have the perfect body. Despite some of the grim content, De Rossi’s story ends on a high note. She comes to accept her natural beauty and sexual orientation, in part thanks to her relationship with Ellen Degeneres.
