9. Harmony’s Nine Lives

While many GH fans were stunned to see Harmony Miller pass away, the only surprise for actress Inga Cadranel was that her character had survived for so long! “I had no expectations beyond a few episodes and having a good time trying a new medium of work,” Cadranel told Soap Opera Digest. “I thought for sure my character was over when Shiloh died.” She credited executive producer Frank Valentini with not recasting the character, even during the global health crisis, when she was “shooting two shows in Toronto and flying back and forth was not an option.”

8. Josh Kelly Joins GH Cast

Josh Kelly, who previously starred in UnReal, has signed a contract to appear on GH as a series regular. At the present time, producers are keeping the actor’s role a secret. However, Deadline reports that the character will change the lives of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Sam (Kelly Monaco, pictured) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). Kelly, who previously appeared as Cutter Wentworth on One Life To Live, also has credits in prime time shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Army Wives. He’ll make his first appearance on GH at the end of May.

7. A Joke Taken Seriously

GH alum William deVry reacted to the mystery around Josh Kelly’s new character by fanning some speculation of his own. “The return of Julian Jerome!!” he announced on Twitter. Unfortunately, fans took his tweet a little too seriously, and responded to the idea of recasting deVry’s character with passionate disbelief. “News flash (total facetious joke),” deVry tweeted the following day. “I am no longer on [the] show, nor will I be in the future. I have no control or knowledge of anything regarding GH. But I still love my old mates, Frank [Valentini] and to especially have a little fan fun!! Hope you enjoy my humor!!”

6. 15,000 Episodes!

GH just celebrated its 15,000th episode with a giant cast photo! “The entire cast and crew were thrilled to celebrate the filming of our 15,000th episode today,” the ABC soap shared on Instagram. Apparently the episode in question will include appearances from almost everyone in the cast, and air in June. Scanning the group photo carefully, we spot Jeff Kober (who plays Cyrus Renault) on the set. Looks like he’ll return to Port Charles, sooner rather than later! But where was Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain)?

5. Cameron Mathison Is In Holiday Mode

Mathison was absent from the cast photo because he’s moonlighting on various television projects. According to his Instagram, he’s currently filming a holiday movie opposite Jill Wagner tentatively called The Christmas Farm. “Christmas wonderland up here in Canada,” he wrote in the caption. “This is such a sweet movie! You’re gonna love it.”

4. Daytime Emmy Nominations

Speaking of actor Jeff Kober, he’s just been nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the category of Supporting Performer in a Daytime Drama Series. And he’s in fine company on the ABC soap: Laura Wright (Carly), Kelly Thiebaud (Britt), James Patrick Stuart (Valentin), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) and Cynthia Watros (Nina) have also been nominated. Not to be outdone by their more established peers, trophy nods have been bestowed on the Port Charles teen scene, with Sydney Mikayla (Trina), Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer) and Will Lipton (Cameron) each receiving a nomination in the Younger Performer category. Who will nab that award?

3. When Will Lulu Wake Up?

Dominic Zamprogna (who plays Dante Falconeri) has Lulu on the brain. In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, the actor addressed which characters from Dante’s past he’d like to see return. “In my mind, Lulu isn’t a possibility right now,” Zamprogna said of his comatose love interest (played by Emme Rylan). “And I don’t see her as from his past. That’s very fresh. But of course, I’d want to see what would happen if Lulu ever were to come back.” As Soaps.com reports, the actor then delves into Dante’s relationship with Sam (Kelly Monaco), so it doesn’t sound as though Lulu will be waking up anytime soon!

2. Steve Burton’s Evil Turn

Those who prefer to think of Steve Burton as Jason Morgan – the strong, honorable and silent type – will be intrigued to learn that the GH alum will play a bad guy this summer on Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. In a new episode of his podcast with GH‘s own Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), Burton explained that Beyond Salem producers “thought it would be cool to bring back Harris Michaels.” Who else is curious to see Burton reprise the role that kick-started his soap opera career back in 1988?

1. GH Firing Caused “Chaos” In Burton’s Marriage

The former GH star’s personal life has also made headlines, after he shared that his marriage is over and the baby his wife, Sheree, is expecting isn’t his! Since he announced that news, an anonymous source has told Daily Mail that the couple had been “in the coasting stage for a while”. Both articles attribute the couple’s break-up to Burton’s firing from GH last fall. “Their lives were changed when he went through some upheaval and anger over what he considered his freedoms being in jeopardy,” an insider told Daily Mail. “He had to leave a show that he loved, which caused chaos in his life.”
