Sarah Hyland Gets Restraining Order: “I Was Scared For My Life”
Published on September 24, 2014.MODERN FAMILY star SARAH HYLAND has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend after alleging he threatened her life.
The actress claims Matthew Prokop terrorised her verbally and physically during the last four years of their relationship, and she wants him to stay away from her, alleging he choked her and pushed her around.
In court documents, obtained by TMZ.com, Hyland reveals her TV mum Julie Bowen helped her end the relationship in May (14) after Prokop, who briefly appeared ion the show, pinned the actress against a car during an argument about her outfit, grabbed her throat and spat four-letter expletives at her.
She claims, “His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life.”
Bowen reportedly agreed to pay a visit to her TV daughter’s home to help “peacefully end the relationship” and urged Hyland to leave as Prokop allegedly lost his cool.
In the documents, Hyland claims Prokop also threatened to set one of her homes on fire, and when she broke up with him for good, he “relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats.”
The actor must now stay at least 100 yards (91.4 meters) away from his ex.
