10 Best Oscar Dresses of the 2000s!

The Academy Awards are in less than two weeks and we are excited to see which actors and actresses will be taking home awards for best and worst dressed on the red carpet. In anticipation of the most prestigious awards ceremony of the year, here is our list for the 10 best Oscar dresses of the 2000’s!

10. Jessica Alba – 2006 Academy Awards

Jessica Alba wore this glittering gold Versace gown to the 78th Annual Academy Awards. The halter neck, the open back and the flower details make this look sophisticated, but sexy. Alba may have only been a presenter at the awards ceremony, but she was definitely one of the best-dressed stars at the event.

9. Jessica Chastain – 2012 Academy Awards

Jessica Chastain looked exquisite at the 84th Annual Academy Awards where she wore this strapless Alexander McQueen gown with $2 million worth of Harry Winston jewelry. The actress was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “The Help” and, even though she didn’t take home an award, she definitely made it on many best-dressed lists for this black and gold number.

8. Charlize Theron – 2004 Academy Awards

Charlize Theron shimmered in this dazzling beaded Gucci gown at the 76th Annual Academy Awards where she took home Best Actress for her performance in “Monster.” Even though the actress had put on 30 pounds for her winning role, she looked beautiful and incredibly fit by the time she hit the red carpet.

Penelope Cruz wore this vintage strapless Pierre Balmain gown with brocade-ish embroidery and a ruched dress skirt to the 81st Annual Academy Awards where she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” According to Cruz, she saw this 60-year-old gown in a store several years back and promised herself that she would buy it. She went back a few weeks before the Oscar’s and decided that she would wear it to the ceremony.
