CFDA Awards 2019: Red Carpet Hits & Misses Ranked
Published on June 4, 2019. Updated October 16, 2019The annual CFDA awards are often dubbed the “Oscars of fashion” and bring together some of the industry’s biggest and brightest stars for an evening of celebration and style. This year’s red carpet was stacked with some of fashion’s most elite models and trendsetters, but that’s not to say there weren’t a few fashion mishaps as well! Follow along for our roundup of all the red carpet hits and misses from the 2019 CFDA awards:
17. Miss: Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum stepped out at the CFDA’s wearing a black long sleeve minidress covered in sparkles. She paired the look with black tights and a silver clutch. While this look isn’t awful, it doesn’t seem to have that high-fashion quality suiting of the CFDA’s which is why it was ultimately a little disappointing.

Bella Hadid stepped out at the CFDAs wearing a black sparkling dress with a plunging neckline and midi-length hemline. The detail of the feathers on the skirt and her tightly coiled curls gave off a unique retro effect with a touch of glamour.

Ashley Graham stepped out at the CFDAs wearing a bold Christian Siriano gown that featured dramatic oversized shoulders and was topped with a fascinator hat. While we can appreciate the drama of this look, it simply felt a little too theatrical and costume-like for the CFDAs. We would have much preferred to see a look like this at the Met Gala!

Olivia Palermo is one of the fashion industry’s most elite stars and she proved that flawlessly with her look for the CFDAs. The beauty opted for a slim fit silver gown with lace detailing on the bodice and trailing down the skirt. She pulled her hair in a sleek bun which allowed her deep grey smokey eye to steal the show.

Victoria’s Secret model Doutzen Kroes left us a little disappointed with her look for the annual CFDA awards. The high-neck black gown seemed a little stifling and overly conservative. We would have much preferred to see her in a look with a little embellishment or an interesting detail for the high-fashion event.

Diane Kruger made heads turn at the CFDA awards where she stepped out wearing this cherry red slip dress. We absolutely love how this color complements Kruger’s complexion and how the embellishment on the bodice adds something unique.

Brooke Shields stepped out at the 2019 CFDA awards wearing a long sleeve sparkling jumpsuit. While the jumpsuit itself is actually quite pretty, we couldn’t overlook her retro hairstyle which was oddly shaped like a triangle and distracted from the look.

Meghan Roche dazzled at the 2019 CFDA awards wearing a soft blue floral dress that was the perfect color choice to highlight her striking blue eyes. Not to mention the sheer detailing and voluminous flowing skirt that added even more glamour!

Model Emily Ratajowski’s look for the 2019 CFDA awards was an unfortunate let down this year. The ruffled detailing on the chest paired with the layered satin skirt didn’t seem to flow together.

Laura Harrier was looking gorgeous in scarlet at the 2019 CFDA awards this year! This feminine, sheer sleeves, and the delicate polka dot pattern stood out amongst the crowd and looked amazing against her skin tone.

Yara Shahidi stepped out at the 2019 CFDA awards wearing an experimental ensemble that we were quite confused and disappointed by. The obscure pattern of the top, the oversized fit of the pants and the theatrical hairstyle all mixed together didn’t seem to flow.

Jennifer Lopez was absolutely glowing at the CFDA awards where she stepped out in a dramatic two-piece set. The peach color was the perfect complement to the caramel tones of her skin and the voluminous skirt added a stunning CFDA glamour factor.

Hannah Ferguson stepped out at the CFDAs wearing a sparkling rainbow jumpsuit we have to admit we weren’t the biggest fans of. The combination of rainbow colors and sequins just seemed a little over the top and juvenile.

Elsa Hosk looked totally angelic at the CFDAs where she stepped out wearing a sleek white off-the-shoulder gown. She took her look up a notch by rocking a bright fuschia lip that paired perfectly with the pop of color on her heels.

Winnie Harlow stepped out at the annual CFDA awards wearing a floor-length purple dress covered in feathers. As glamorous as feathers may be, this look seemed a little over the top. We would have much preferred a look with subtle feather detailing rather than a head-to-toe look, especially with the ensemble already being such a bold color.

Lily Aldridge was the epitome of classic glamour when she stepped out at the CFDAs wearing a form-fitting red dress with a flattering cape-style jacket. She pulled her hair into a polished low bun and jazzed the look up with a cherry red lip and diamond earrings.

Gigi Hadid’s ensemble for the annual CFDA awards was an unfortunate disappointment, especially since we had such high expectations for the gorgeous model! Her look simply had too many layers and details to it that her slender figure got lost among all the chaos.
