21. Hit: America Ferrera
America Ferrera hit the Governors Awards’ red carpet wearing head-to-toe sequins this year. We love the structural shape and gold sequin shoulders of this dress, which works fabulously with her gold clutch and metallic heels. The pop of red on her lips was also a great contrast with the metallic details of the dress!
EPA/NINA PROMMER20. Miss: Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan looked gorgeous when she stepped out on the red carpet wearing this deep navy dress; however, we feel that it lacked detail to make it stand out among the crowd! The look was quite simple, which made it one that we seemed to overlook, unfortunately.
EPA/NINA PROMMER19. Hit: Regina King
Regina King stole the show when she stepped out at the 2019 Governors Awards wearing this gold embellished dress. We love the unique wrapped style of this look which made it appear very Greek Goddess-inspired. The combination of light gold and white looked gorgeous together!
EPA/NINA PROMMER18. Miss: Isabella Rossellini
Italian actress Isabella Rossellini had an unfortunate fashion miss at this year’s Governor Awards when she stepped out wearing this fuschia satin look. The combination of the unshapely garment, cheetah print detailing and vibrant color didn’t seem to work together well.
EPA/NINA PROMMER17. Hit: Sophia Loren
Sophia Loren stunned at the 2019 Governors Awards where she stepped out wearing this sleek black dress with silver beaded embellishment. The look flattered her figure and had a little glitz without being over the top.

Jodie Turner-Smith missed the mark with her look for this year’s Governors Awards. While we love this green color, the shape of the ensemble and oversized sleeves were a little questionable.
EPA/NINA PROMMER15. Hit: Laura Dern
Laura Dern stunned on the red carpet wearing this long sleeve black dress which featured a velvet texture on the skirt. The contrast of textures added something unique to this look and the pop of red on her lip brought the glamour.
EPA/NINA PROMMER14. Miss: Keke Palmer
While we love this shade of inky indigo on Keke Palmer, we have to admit that this look seemed a little over the top for the Governor Awards. The long train and heavy ruffles definitely stood out as the boldest of the evening.
EPA/NINA PROMMER13. Hit: Awkwafina
Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina stunned at the 2019 Governors Awards where she stepped out in blush pink belted number. We love the subtle embellishment on this dress which added visual interest to the look.
EPA/NINA PROMMER12. Miss: Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron missed the mark at this year’s Governors Awards where she stepped out wearing a black and white number. Unfortunately, this look didn’t seem to flatter her figure properly and felt a little messy with the wrinkled skirt and drooping top.
EPA/NINA PROMMER11. Hit: Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson stunned at the 2019 Governors Awards where she opted for a black and gold number. We love the flattering texture of the gold bodice and the asymmetrical neckline, which brought the glamour factor.
EPA/NINA PROMMER10. Miss: Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh had all eyes on her at the 2019 Governors Awards where she opted for a purple ruffled number. While we love this shade of purple on Pugh, we’re not sure the dramatic shape of this dress was the most flattering.
EPA/NINA PROMMER9. Hit: Renee Zellweger
Renee Zellweger stunned at the annual Governors Awards where she opted for a sleek black dress that fit her like a glove. We love the elegant off-the-shoulder neckline and soft embroidery of this look.
EPA/NINA PROMMER8. Miss: Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez hit the red carpet at the Governors Awards wearing a bright yellow satin dress which tied into a bow at the back. While this color is a true show-stopper, we’re not sure the shape of this dress worked with Lopez’s figure! The fabric seemed to drown her and was quite different than the shapely, hourglass dresses we’ve seen her wear in the past.
EPA/NINA PROMMER7. Hit: Constance Wu
Constance Wu stunned at the Governors Awards where she opted for a lilac strapless dress. The color was feminine and flattering on Wu and the subtle embellishment and peplum detail made the look feel really unique.
EPA/NINA PROMMER6. Miss: Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita Nyong’o missed the mark at this year’s Governors Awards where she opted for a heavily embroidered floral dress. While the halter neckline is pretty and flattering, the pattern of this look had a little too many colors happening at once for our liking!
EPA/NINA PROMMER5. Hit: Dakota Johnson
Dakota Johnson looked like Cinderella at this year’s Governors Awards where she opted for a dramatic ivory look! We love how she opted for a crop top and full skirt rather than a ballgown which added a sultry quality to the uber-feminine ensemble.
(Photo by Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP)4. Miss: Kate Mara
Kate Mara opted for a lacey black look for this year’s Governors Awards which we have to admit we weren’t the biggest fans of. The look felt quite heavy and dark with a lot of textures competing for attention.
EPA/NINA PROMMER3. Hit: Olivia Wilde
Olivia Wilde made heads turn when she appeared at the Governors Awards wearing this deep wine-colored dress. From the plunging neckline to the sequined texture, this dress had old Hollywood written all over it.
EPA/NINA PROMMER2. Miss: Saorise Ronan
Saorise Ronan had an unfortunate fashion miss at this year’s Governors Awards where she stepped out wearing a gingham-printed ensemble. The shape of this dress seemed quite heavy with the oversized sleeves and high-neckline, which wasn’t the most flattering overall.
EPA/NINA PROMMER1. Hit: Lili Reinhart
Of all the looks at this year’s Governors Awards, our favorite has to be this buttery yellow look worn by Riverdale star, Lili Reinhart. The shape of this dress was absolutely fabulous, especially with all the intricate pleating which flattered her figure perfectly.
