Longtime controversial reality star Abby Lee Miller took to her social media on Sunday, March 26 to announce that she has decided to quit her Lifetime series Dance Moms.
Alongside a photo of herself with some of her young dancers, she wrote a lengthy post, beginning, “The majority of children that follow me may be fast asleep. however now is the critical time to make the following statement: I WILL NO LONGER TAKE PART IN DANCE MOMS.”
She continued in all capital letters, “For the past six years/seven seasons I have asked, begged, and even demanded creative credit for all the ideas, award winning routines, themes, and costuming – to no avail.” The 50-year-old then explained that she went against what a producer wanted in order to have one of her most popular pieces “Where Have All the Children Gone?” performed. “I don’t have a problem working with any kid, I love children and have dedicated my life to making other people’s children successful! I JUST HAVE A PROBLEM WITH BEING MANIPULATED, DISRESPECTED, AND USED – DAY IN AND DAY OUT BY MEN WHO NEVER TOOK A DANCE LESSON IN THEIR LIVES AND TREAT WOMEN LIKE DIRT! #dancemoms #season7 #ALDC #aldcalways #newbeginnings #aldcla #alllovedancecourage.”
This new set of drama comes amid Miller’s bankruptcy fraud case which came after she was indicted by a federal grand jury in 2015 for attempting to hide more than $755,000 of her income. It was also reported at the same time that she had been accused of asking her friends to put more than $120,000 in plastic bags to hide money in their luggage. While her February court date was postponed as the case continues, if convicted Miller could face up to 30 months in prison.
