Benedict Cumberbatch is a married man — and he tied the knot on Valentine’s Day!

The actor, 38, wed theater director Sophie Hunter, 36, at the medieval Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Mottistone, England, on the Isle of Wight. About 40 guests attended the nuptials at the quaint church, which dates back to the 12th century. Check out the video to see photos of the affair!

Their reception was full of history as well. Afterward, the couple and their guests headed to Mottistone Manor, a 650-acre estate that was first mentioned in writing in 1086. The oldest parts of the home that still stand, meanwhile, are only 600 years young. The Manor is surrounded by meadows, roses and sprawling lawns, making it a perfect, romantic location for a Valentine’s Day wedding.

“Sophie is one of the Nicholsons, which is why they have chosen to have it here,” explained a local insider. “The Nicholson family used to own the manor until they sold it to the National Trust … It’s a beautiful house.”

Celebrity guests included Tom Hiddleston and Benedict’s Sherlock Holmes co-star Martin Freeman.

Benedict and Sophie, who is pregnant, were spotted at London’s Heathrow Airport two days after the wedding. Benedict will appear at this Sunday’s Oscars ceremony, where he’s nominated for Best Actor for The Imitation Game.
