Britney Spears has had a rollercoaster ride when it comes to her career in Hollywood.
She went from being a bubblegum pop princess to wife and mother, to having a breakdown, to making one heck of a comeback, all while in the public eye and, as the cover star for Marie Claire‘s October 2016 issue, she is opening up about different aspects of her life.
In the issue, the 34-year-old revealed that even celebrities are not exempt from bad dates and awkward first dates as she recalled her own dating horror stories. “I had a really bad date. I mean, it was really bad,” she told the mag. “I’ve been single for ages and had a date with a guy I liked. I was getting anxious, worrying he wouldn’t like me. We went to the movies, but I could tell right away it wasn’t working. It was sort of awkward.” She added, “After the movie I came home and that was it. It just didn’t work. He just wasn’t that into me. I liked him. He knew that. But he definitely didn’t feel the same. It happens to everybody. Being famous doesn’t make you any different.”
The singer also opened up about facing anxiety for a lot of her career, stating, “I moved to Los Angeles when I was very young. I was so under scrutiny.” She added, “If a hair was out of place, I’d be so anxious. I would get very anxious about so many things.”
Spears became famous at 17 and admitted that while she had anxiety, as she got older she became more confident, and believes that her two sons, Sean and Jayden, have a lot to do with that. “Becoming a mother and being with my boys has made me so much more accepting of myself. I’m their mom, whatever,” the mother of two explained. “That has been a really big thing for me over these last few years.”
