Cissy Houston Breaks Her Silence: Not Much Hope For Bobbi Kristina

Bobbi Kristina has been in a coma since January 31. The matriarch of the Houston clan, Whitney’s mother, Cissy Houston, has finally broken her silence regarding her granddaughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown.

The 21 year old was transferred from Emory Hospital to a rehabilitation clinic which is said to offer better long-term care. The word long-term may offer a moot point, because there is no real timeline for Bobbi Kristina. Cissy suggested that there’s not “a great deal of hope,” regarding her granddaughter’s condition. Cissy has continued asking for prayers for her granddaughter, and is struggling to come to terms with the next steps regarding treatment and care.

On the other side of the spectrum, Bobby Brown has remained hopeful and optimistic–putting up a front for family and friends. He believes that Bobbi Kristina can pull out of her coma, yet her team of medical professionals have suggested Bobby prepare for the worst, including making some really tough decisions in the near future.

The entire family was hopeful that the removal of intubation implements, and other life support mechanisms might pull Bobbi Kristina out of her coma, but after everything was said and done, nothing has changed, she remains the same.

Comas are strange things. There are cases of individuals surviving in comatose and “persistent vegetative” states for years upon years. And there are cases like Gary Dockery, a police officer who was shot, survived in a coma for eight years, then woke up after undergoing a lung surgery, living in a short state of lucidity. Doctors described him as being verbose, and rattling on and on about past events, friends, pets, experiences, then 18 hours later he slipped back into his state of unresponsiveness and died a few months later.

Or the case of Terry Wallis, who was in a persistent vegetative state, upgraded to a “semi-conscious state” for 19 years, then one day, saw his mother, and called her by “Mom.” The case became a case study, through CT Scans and MRI it was discovered that Terry’s brain had actually healed itself by creating new fiber connections in order to function.

What happened to Bobbi Kristina is steeped in mystery, and what will happen to her, the same… still, there is nothing more mysterious than where she is now.
