The creator and producer behind hit shows such as American Horror Story and Glee, Ryan Murphy, has created a new series dubbed American Crime Story in which every season will portray real life trials that had the public at the edge of their seats.
For the first season Murphy is tackling the infamous 1995 case of ex-NFL player O.J. Simpson and the events surrounding the death of his wife Nicole Simpson Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman.
According to the press release the first season, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, “[takes] a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and a combination of prosecution confidence, defense willingness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.”
Along with Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr., 46, being cast in the role of Simpson, it has also been confirmed that American Horror Story actress Sarah Paulson will play prosecutor Marcia Clark.
The first season will consist of a ten episode miniseries and does not have a set premiere date but producers are reportedly aiming for January 2016.
