‘Dancing With the Stars’ Host Erin Andrews Defends Her Reaction To Hannah Brown’s Win

Published on November 27, 2019.

Erin Andrews continues to defend her reserved reaction to Hannah Brown’s Dancing With the Stars win on Monday, November 25.

On the season 28 finale of the dancing competition show, Brown won the prestigious Mirrorball trophy over fellow contestants Ally Brooke, Lauren Alaina, and Kel Mitchell. After Alaina placed fourth and Brooke stood in third, the judges and audience watched to see if Brown or Mitchell would be crowned season 28’s champions. Finally, Brown and her pro partner, Alan Bersten, were declared the winners of the season, and there was obvious shock from many.

Once the former Bachelorette star was crowned winner, one camera panned to Andrews, who stood with a blank face.

A Twitter user then tweeted, “Oooooo @ErinAndrews looked less than impressed with the outcome of #DWTS.”

Andrews acted quickly to defend her reaction.

“Give me a break. YOU CAN’T WIN IN THIS SITUATION. I’m standing next to the couple that just got second place,” Andrews responded to the user via Twitter. “And if I had cheered, you’d be killing me for going against the Kel, Lauren, and Ally. Not that serious people!”

A second tweet directed at the host, which is now deleted, she argued that if she had cheered for Brown’s win, she would also be scrutinized.

“Ahahahah you don’t get it. In this day and age, we can’t say a thing. You’ll get killed no matter what. I have to look dead into the camera bc people are threatening you don’t like a contestant,” tweeted Andrews.

“Sad, taken the fun out of it! Cheers!” she concluded her message.

While Andrews felt she needed to appear neutral whenever a Dancing With the Stars winner is revealed, Brown’s Bachelor Nation family didn’t hold back their feelings about the alum’s win, including Bachelor producer Elan Gale, Bachelor in Paradise star Blake Horstmann, and former Bachelorette stars Trista Sutter, Desiree (Hartsock) Siegfried, Emily Maynard, and fellow contestants from Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor Elyse Dehlbom and Caitlin Clemmens.
