Flip Or Flop Star Christina El Moussa Opens Up About Strained Marriage Before Split

HGTV stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa have had a wild ride through fame and the media since becoming household names thanks to their hit series Flip or Flop.

Things became even more intense for the pair when it was discovered the pair secretly spit in May 2016 after an explosive fight, and now Christina is opening up about what really happened in her marriage when the cameras weren’t rolling.

“Like any couple, we had our share of issues. But we went through a lot in a short amount of time,” she told People magazine about the problems that started well before their May 2016 split. After Flip or Flop debuted in 2013, the pair were suddenly caught up in newfound fame and then Tarek was diagnosed with thyroid cancer which was followed by radiation treatment and Christina’s struggles to get pregnant after suffering a miscarriage in 2014.

After becoming pregnant then welcoming their second child, Brayden, Christina went right back to work only four weeks later. “It was too soon for me. I was overwhelmed. The tension between me and Tarek was high. It got to the point where we weren’t even driving to set together,” she explained.

When news broke of their separation in December, nearly seven months after their split, Christina admits she was relieved. “I think the separation process begins long before people actually separate. So by the time we actually did, I felt like a weight was lifted off me.”

She added, “Tarek and I don’t discuss each other’s personal lives. It is what it is and we are going through a divorce and eventually we will be dating other people. I’m happy for him and whatever steps he takes in his life and I just hope he’s happy.”

“It’s invigorating to know I am starting over,” she says. “It’s fun to be able to create my own destiny right now.”
