“The Resident and Last Man Standing are such important parts of Fox, and we’re so pleased they will be returning next season,” Michael Thorn, president of entertainment for Fox Entertainment, said in a statement. “We want to thank all of the writers, actors, directors, producers and talented crews for both of these shows, and, of course, our friends and producing partners at 20th Century Fox Television.”
According to the network, Last Man Standing, which stars Tim Allen and Nancy Travis, averages 8 million multi-platform viewers. As for The Resident, which stars Matt Czuchry and Emily VanCamp, averages 10 million across platforms.
Last week, Fox revealed its public health situation-proof 2020 fall TV lineup, making the network the first broadcaster to announce a specific fall schedule since the outbreak of this global health crisis.
“The effects of this global health crisis leave no business unaffected. As a media company that prides itself on an entrepreneurial spirit and the focus that comes with doing fewer things better, we mobilized, swiftly creating an entirely new, original-programming lineup for the fall to share with our partners this upfront,” said Charlie Collier, CEO, Fox Entertainment.
