Much earlier this year singer, rapper and songwriter Frank Ocean declared he was going to officially change his name to his stage moniker, Frank Ocean.
Ocean’s real name is Christopher Breaux and after applying to legally change his name nearly eight months ago, a judge has denied his request due to a lengthy list of traffic tickets he has acquired.
Over the course of three months, Ocean racked up three tickets which included a hefty speeding charge in August, not using his headlights and having an expired insurance.
As well as the tickets he has had previous issues with his license being suspended for skipping court dates and in 2012 he was also pulled over for speeding and was caught being in the possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.
Since the judge has already denied this name change request, Ocean will have to clear his driving record and then begin the process all over again by reapplying.
Ocean began his career as a ghostwriter for celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Brandy and John Legend but branched out as his own artist in 2011 with the hit of his mixtape Nostaligia, Ultra.
He is also known for his feud with Chris Brown when the two men’s groups became involved in a parking lot brawl, a dispute that was recently settled.
