After Gina Tognoni confirmed she was leaving her role of Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless, the actress is now preparing to say goodbye.
Tognoni took to her Instagram on Wednesday, April 10, to share a sweet tribute to her character and her time on Y&R as she prepares to say goodbye to the character and the show she has starred in for 485 episodes since 2014.
“Here we go starting our journey walking in peace with my Phyllis’. Each day is precious to me here in LA . I am still giving life to this character for a few more episodes/week,” she began her post.
“Filled with Love as We count down and continue our story in New ways . BTW this is my dressing room/ sanctuary. I always sit in here and feel peaceful and centered . It’s special . #storytellers#truthteller #actorslife #yr,” she added.
On March 30, Tognoni was reportedly let go from The Young and the Restless, and while she did not confirm she was let go, she did address her departure, writing, “Five years ago, I was blessed to embrace the incredible character of Phyllis Summers Abbott,” she began. “I am beyond grateful for the creative experience that The Young and the Restless has given to me as well as the amazing relationships I made with the cast, crew/staff, producers, and writers. I love my Genoa City family, which made it easy to give 110% every day. My long commutes always went smoothly because I loved where I worked and the people I worked with!”
“Many thanks to Sony Pictures Television and CBS and a special thank you to the Y&R viewers for their love and support. I wish Y&R continued success and everything it richly deserves.”
It has since been revealed that General Hospital actress Michelle Stafford will be taking over as Phyllis Summers on Y&R after previously playing the character.
On Thursday, April 11, it was revealed that former Lost, Guiding Light, and Y&R actress Cynthia Watros was cast as the replacement for Stafford as Nina Clay-Cassadine on General Hospital.
