Harry Potter Star Robbie Coltrane Hospitalized After FlightPublished on January 30, 2015.
Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane who played fan favorite and lovable half-giant Rubeus Hagrid in the film versions of the franchise has been hospitalized following a flight on Thursday January 29.
Coltrane, 64, apparently became ill during a flight from London, England to Orlando, Florida and was reportedly suffering from flu-like symptoms causing paramedics to meet him at his gate and rush him to hospital upon his flight’s arrival.
Coltrane’s agent spoke out about the incident to BBC News on Friday January 30 only saying that the actor was currently “resting” but “would be fine” without releasing any further details about his illness or condition.
After news of his sickness broke, TMZ reported that witnesses spotted Coltrane “drinking heavily” in a lounge in the airport prior to leaving on his London flight. His agent did speak to those rumors and firmly stated they were “completely untrue.”
On the flight with Coltrane was also Michael Gambon who portrayed Dumbledore in the last several films after Richard Harris who initially played the role passed away in 2002 following the filming of the second Harry Potter movie.
The two Harry Potter stars were apparently on their way to Orlando for a global Harry Potter convention taking place at Universal Studios which has recreated the magic of the books and films with “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” section at the theme park which includes rides, shops and dining.
