Ian Somerhalder And Nikki Reed Engaged After 6 Months

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed have only been dating for six months, but they’re already planning to tie the knot!

When The Vampire Diaries star, 36, and the actress, 26, appeared together on the red carpet of the Golden Globes, we got a look at an interesting diamond-studded band on the ring finger of  Nikki’s right hand. Perhaps she wore the ring on her right hand so that it wouldn’t attract attention, but the opposite has happened!

“Ian bought a vintage diamond eternity band for Nikki,” a source explained to Us Weekly. “It’s not a typical engagement ring but actually a wedding band you purchase for when you get married.” Rumors began spreading when Ian was spotted looking at engagement rings by upscale ring designer Neil Lane.

Reed just finalized her divorce from American Idol alum Paul McDonald this month. Ian, meanwhile, dated his Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev for three years, but the pair broke things off in May 2013. This will be the first marriage for Ian.

Ian and Nikki already share dogs, a horse and a production company together. Their relationship has moved very quickly: they also moved in together just weeks after they began dating.

Reps for the stars have not yet commented on the engagement news.
