The cast and crew of the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless are preparing to say goodbye to longtime cast member Kristoff St. John following his sudden passing on February 3 at the age of 52.
On Tuesday, February 5, the network announced that they only had one more episode filmed featuring St. John as Neil Winters and it is set to air Wednesday, February 6. St. John’s last episode on the long-running soap opera aired on Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Canada on Global, and it will air in the U.S. on CBS on Wednesday, Feb. 6, just days after his unexpected death.
In addition to his final episode, the soap also announced that they will have a special tribute to the actor on Friday, February 8. “To honor Kristoff St. John, #YR will air a special tribute to him during the show on Friday, Feb. 8. His final episode of The Young and the Restless will air tomorrow. Please join us in saying goodbye to a beloved member of the Y&R and @cbsdaytime family,” a message from the official Y&R Instagram page on Tuesday, February 5 reads.
As previously reported, St. John was found deceased inside his San Fernando Valley home on Sunday, February 3. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a death investigation took place at around 2:05 p.m. for a possible alcohol overdose at the 2300 block of Morea Way. An autopsy was completed, but no cause of death has been revealed yet since the coroner is waiting for toxicology results.
St. John joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in 1991 and continued to star on the series for nearly three decades. He won two Daytime Emmy Awards for his performance on the show and was nominated an additional nine times.
St. John had continually battled his own mental health issues following the death of his son Julian, who at 24, took his own life in a treatment center in November 2014. Back in 2017, St. John had to take a leave from Y&R to seek mental health treatment after he threatened to commit suicide on the anniversary of his son’s death.
Many Y&R stars shared touching tributes to St. John and a statement from CBS and Sony Pictures Television said: “The News of Kristoff St. John’s passing is heartbreaking. He was a very talented actor and an even better person. For those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him on ‘The Young and the Restless’ for the last 27 years, he was a beloved friend whose smile and infectious laugh made every day on set a joy and made audiences love him. On behalf of the Y&R cast and crew, CBS and Sony Pictures Television, we offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family and loved ones, especially his two daughters, Paris and Lola.”
The actor also leaves behind a fiancee. In September of 2018, he took to his social media to announce his engagement to model Kseniya Mikhaleva who shared her own heartbreaking message after the news of his passing.
