LeBron James May Be Starring In Space Jam 2

Back in 1996, arguably the best sports/children’s movie was released when Warner Bros. teamed up with the NBA’s most iconic player, Michael Jordan, to bring the world Space Jam. Now, nearly 20 years later, it seems Space Jam 2 is finally in the works and it looks like it will star the NBA’s current most iconic player, LeBron James.

On Wednesday, July 22, Warner Bros. studio announced they had made a deal with James and his production company Springhill Entertainment “in an unprecedented agreement spanning all areas of content creation,” which encompasses television, online and film content.

The deal came after James’ performance in the Amy Schumer led comedy Trainwreck, which is getting rave reviews, and after Warner Bros. quietly filed new Space Jam trademarks just last month, but the official movie announcement starring the 30-year-old basketball phenom has not yet been announced.

In everything I’ve done, from Nike commercials to ‘Uninterrupted’ and Survivor’s Remorse, it’s always about connecting with people of all ages and providing unique content they can all enjoy. And I’ve always loved movies, which makes Warner Bros. the ultimate partner to help us continue to push the envelope. I can’t wait to see what we come up with,” James stated.

While James’ fans and those who applauded his acting work in Trainwreck are ecstatic about the possibility of Space Jam 2, intersetingly enough social media was also taken over with criticisms about the castings with comments such as, “Space Jam 2 is going to be a glorious disaster,” and “If LeBron is in Space Jam 2, it’s going straight to YouTube or Netflix.”
