The Pirates of the Caribbean universe is coming back to a screen near you!

According to Entertainment Tonight, Margot Robbie is set to star in a new, female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean film which will be scripted by the Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be a “wholly original story with new characters” rather than a spinoff of the Johnny Depp-starring films about Captain Jack Sparrow. The film is actually inspired by the original Disneyland ride itself, and many fans are speculating Margot will play Redd from the attraction.

It’s also important to note that this Pirates film starring Robbie is completely separate from the reboot reported last year, which is in the works from Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and screenwriter Ted Elliott.

The female-fronted Margot film could be the sixth or seventh film inspired by the Disney ride depending on when it is released. The Pirates franchise originally launched with 2003’s The Curse of the Black Pearl and continued in Dead Man’s Chest (2006), At World’s End (2007), On Stranger Tides (2011), and Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017).
