Mario Lopez Shares A First Look At The ‘Saved By The Bell’ Reboot

Published on January 13, 2020.

On Friday, January 10, Mario Lopez shared on Instagram a first look at the upcoming Saved by the Bell reboot. The video included Lopez and his costar Elizabeth Berkley on the set of the iconic diner The Max as they prepared to shoot a promo for NBC’s streaming service Peacock.

On the same day, it was announced that Lopez and Berkely’s former costar Mark-Paul Gosselaar would be joining the cast of the Saved by the Bell reboot as his original character Zack Morris. He is set to appear in three episodes alongside being a producer on the revival. In addition to Gosselaar’s casting and producing news, Tiffani Thiessen, who portrayed Zack’s girlfriend and wife Kelly Kapowski, is also in talks to return for the reboot. Lopez and Berkley are reprising their respective roles as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano.

The Saved by the Bell reboot will focus on the story of what happened when California Gov. Zack Morris receives backlash for closing several low-income high schools and proposed that the affected students be sent to one of the highest-performing schools in the state – which includes Bayside High. Totah will be cast as the gorgeous and witty cheerleader Lexi, who is admired and feared by the school’s students.

Earlier in the month, it was announced that Josie Totah will star as the show’s lead role of Lexi, as the gorgeous and witty cheerleader who is admired and feared by the school’s students.

NBC’s streaming service is set to launch in April 2020. The Saved by the Bell reboot premiere date has not been announced at this time.
