Michael Douglas Says Val Kilmer Is Battling Cancer

Val Kilmer may have been denying any illnesses for quite some time now, but his former co-star Michael Douglas is telling a different story.

According to multiple outlets, Douglas was in London over the weekend and participated in a Q&A and somehow his 1996 film The Ghost and the Darkness came up, and so did the topic of his co-star in the film Val Kilmer. “The picture didn’t turn out as well as I hoped but I had a wonderful time,” Douglas said about the film before adding some ominous words about Kilmer. “Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don’t look too good for him.”

He then added, “My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.”

He was of course referring to his own battle with stage 4 oral cancer which he beat back in 2013. Meanwhile Kilmer sparked concern after he was treated at a hospital in 2015, and was seen covering his neck and throat with scarves and at one point and reportedly had a tube in his throat.

The actor has dispelled any rumors of ill health, however. “Thank you all for your love and support. There’s a rumor I’m unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue. I was in to verify I had no tumor or infection of any kind, which was verified by the very caring experts at UCLA,” he wrote in a October 2015 Facebook post.
