Miranda Lambert Helps Rescue Over 200 Dogs From Hurricane Harvey
Published on September 1, 2017.Although donations are extremely helpful to aid in the trauma of Hurricane Harvey, country music star Miranda Lambert has taken a more hands-on approach to show her support!
Lambert has mobilized her MuttNation Foundation to help ensure the safety of dogs, cats and other domestic pets from the tropical storm that hit Houston this week. She founded the organization in 2009 and has helped at least 233 animals amid the natural disaster over the past three days. The goal is to rescue and relocate the animals as quickly and in the least invasive way possible. The country music star has shared multiple heart warming photos of the relief efforts on her Instagram and has shared that the animals are now receiving medical treatment at Texas A&M University before being transported out of Houston.
Miranda herself even fostered a dog and her newborn puppies to help the cause. “My roommates tonight sure are cute! Mama and newborns that were born this morning,” she captioned the adorable photo. “I’m calling her Ashley after @ashleymonroemusic who just had a baby herself. @muttnationfoundation rescued 72 dogs today who are being transported to dry safe shelters across the country.”
Miranda also recently thanked the volunteers involved with the foundation for their ongoing support. “Thanks to some amazing transportation volunteers… We sent over 70 pups to our shelter in Oklahoma today. Our rigs are now rolling into Houston for another load. Continue to send prayers and donations.”
Miranda is among the growing list of celebrities that have pitched in to aid in the relief of the hurricane devastation. To donate to the Red Cross’ Hurricane Harvey relief fund, click here.
