Mishael Morgan Announces Y&R Exit: “It Was My Decision”
Published on September 30, 2022.It’s been a while since viewers of The Young and the Restless (Y&R) saw Amanda Sinclair in Genoa City, and Mishael Morgan has now revealed why. The actress is stepping away from the character, effectively immediately.
The Daytime Emmy winning actress dropped an Instagram post to share her future plans.
“I just wrapped for my last scenes back at Y&R and I just wanted to let the cat out of the bag a little bit,” Morgan began.
“A lot of people noticed that my name is not on the main credits anymore and I wanted everybody to know that it was my decision,” the actress revealed. “I decided back in December, actually, that I wanted to take a bit of a step back from the show.”

Although technically it was co-star Michelle Stafford who let the cat out of the bag, Morgan’s comments will set the record straight. Many fans had directed their scrutiny at Y&R for omitting the soap star’s name from the credits.
“I just feel like at this point in my life and at this point in my career, I wanted to mix things up a little bit,” Morgan explained, adding, “but Y&R will always be home.”
It’s understandable that Morgan would like to branch out and explore new opportunities. Having just won her first Daytime Emmy award, and not doing much storyline-wise on Y&R, the time feels right to “mix things up”.
“I have so appreciated this safe place to land that they’ve given me, so I know that I can be back,” Morgan reassured her fans.
While Morgan’s news somewhat confirms Stafford’s cryptic farewell post yesterday, this isn’t a permanent goodbye for Amanda Sinclair.
“I’m still on [Y&R],” she added. “I’m going to be on recurring, so you’ll still catch me in Genoa City.”
This is undoubtedly a big loss for Y&R fans. However, with Morgan dropping down to a recurring contract, it keeps her character on the canvas in some capacity. It also makes the prospect of her full-time return a lot more likely.
