Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is going to be changing up the norm for late-night talk shows as he get his own show on the National Geographic Channel dubbed Star Talk.
Tyson rose to the spotlight with his very controversial Twitter account and has a huge Internet following, with Star Talk already being a very popular podcast and already had his start on television with a revival of Cosmos.
The show will be much like the podcast as Tyson will host pop culture celebrities and scientists and blend discussions of topics from both realms.
“Cosmos allowed us to share the awesome power of the universe with a global audience in ways that we never thought possible. To be able to continue to spread the wonder and excitement through Star Talk, which is a true passion project for me, is beyond exciting,” Tyson said in a statement.
National Geographic Channel CEO Courtney Monroe also expressed their excitement to continue work with Tyson.
“After the global success of Cosmos as one of the most- watched series in our history, we are thrilled to be partnering with Neil again. Star Talk is the perfect opportunity to offer our audience an edgy, late-night alternative with the credibility and authenticity that are the hallmarks of our network.”
The show is to be taped in front of a live audience at the Hayden Planetarium in NYC’s Museum of Natural History and is set to première in April.
