Prince Philip Has Been Hospitalized For “Observation And Treatment”

Published on December 20, 2019.

98-year old Prince Philip has been hospitalized on Friday morning.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed in a statement that the Duke of Edinburgh traveled from Norfolk to the King Edward VII’s Hospital in London for “observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition.” The palace also noted, “The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’ Doctor.” It has been confirmed that Philip will remain in the hospital for “a few days.”

With the holidays around the corner, many have wondered what will happen to the royal family’s traditional Christmas plans. It has been reported that Queen Elizabeth has remained in Sandringham and her plans have not changed thus far. In the past, the Queen traditionally makes an appearance on Christmas Day when she attends a church service in Sandringham with other members of the royal family.

Prince Philip retired from his official royal duties in May 2017. He has made occasional public appearances since his retirement including when he stepped out in October 2018 to attend Princess Eugenie’s wedding. His most recent appearance was in August 2019 when he was spotted at Balmoral Castle.

Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth also recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.

We wish Prince Philip best wishes and a speedy recovery!
