A rap artist who is new to the scene is already hitting some major road bumps in his career, namely being hauled into a police station in relation to some pretty serious charges.
Ackquille Pollard, 20, who performs under the name Bobby Shmurda was arrested and taken into police custody on Wednesday December 17 after he left a recording studio near Radio City Musical Hall in Manhattan.
His arrest, along with other artists such as Chad Marshal (also known as Rowdy Rebel), are due to gun and drug trafficking charges after the investigation into a series of gang related shootings and drug trafficking incidents throughout the city.
Upon the arrest of Rowdy Rebel, officers also found multiple handguns inside the recording studio where he was apprehended, according to authorities.
Kati Cornell, a spokeswoman for the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for New York City said that details of the investigation and the charges against Pollard and Marshal – as well as several others – will be unsealed on Thursday (Dec. 18) in State Supreme Court in Manhattan.
Bobby Shmurda was just beginning to make a name for himself in the music industry with his song “Hot Boy” that climbed to number 8 in the country and he was also known for making “The Schmoney Dance” popular.
Pollard has already had several run-ins with law enforcement including two arrests for gun and drug possession prior to this gang-related bust.
