Philadelphia police have officially charged a man with murder after a crew member who was working on Nicki Minaj’s tour was fatally stabbed outside of a bar in late February.
Pierce Boykin, 31, was charged on Tuesday March 3 for the death of De’Von Pickett who died on February 18 following the bar fight while Boykin also seriously injured another man, Eric Parker, leading to Boykin also being charged with attempted murder.
Pickett and the surviving victim, 26-year old Parker, both were working with Nicki Minaj on her tour who confirmed that they had only arrived two days prior to his death.
“These guys flew into Philly for my tour rehearsals 2 days ago and were both stabbed last night. #RIPDAYDAY condolences to your family. Unbelievable. Eric (on the right) is recovering. Another senseless act of violence that took the life of a great guy. So sad,” she posted on her Instagram account alongside a picture of the two men.
According to reports from the Philadelphia Inquirer police do not have a motive in the slaying aside from an altercation that began in the bar however Pickett and his group of friends were not involved in the fight.
The bar’s owner then kicked every patron out when the fight began and spilled into the street where Pickett, and Parker were approached and were engaged in a fight for no apparent reason.
Boykin is facing a slew of charges including “murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, and related offenses.”
