On July 28, 2014 fans of The Bachelorette saw Andi Dorfman, 27, happily accept a proposal from finalist Josh Murray, 30, on the finale of the show’s 10th season. However after five months of being engaged a rep for the couple has confirmed they have split.
“After several months of being engaged and working on our relationship, we have decided that it’s best for both of us to go our separate ways. We are very sad that it has come to this point, but this is what’s best for both of us individually. We will continue to be good friends and have nothing but great things to say about each other and wish each other the best,” the pair released in a joint statement on Thursday January 8.
The break-up comes as a surprise after Dorfman chose Murray over Nick Viall in the finale whom many believed had won her love which Viall himself believed, stating that he was”completely blindsided” by her decision to choose Murray.
Not to mention the fact that as early as Monday January 5, Dorfman and Murray walked the red carpet together for the Season 19 première of The Bachelor and were very touchy and loving in front of reporters and even discussed wedding plans and settling down together.
The pair told People magazine at the event that they weren’t focused too much on wedding details yet and wanted to “make a little home in Atlanta and figure it out there.”
On Thursday January 8, Murray took to his Instagram to post an emotional picture of a man kneeling with an arm raised to the sky with the caption, “Lord, help me to have faith in your plan,” but the post has already been deleted.
