The Royal Family Has Released A New Picture Of Prince George For 8th Birthday

Prince George is celebrating his 8th birthday today! To honor the occasion, the royal family released a new birthday portrait of him.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released the photo on social media ahead of Prince George’s birthday. In the photo, George is sitting on the hood of a car, showing off a toothy grin for the camera. He’s wearing a navy polo shirt with orange stripes and matching navy shorts.

“Turning eight(!) tomorrow,” the photo was captioned on social media with a party emoji and a birthday cake emoji. As per tradition, the gorgeous portrait of Prince George was taken by his mother, Kate Middleton. The photo appears to be taken at the royal family’s country home in Norfolk.

Eagle-eyed royal fans noticed a subtle tribute to George’s late grandfather Prince Philip, who passed in April at the age of 99. In the photo, Prince George seems to be sitting on a Land Rover, which is known to be a favorite and beloved car of Prince Philip. The late Prince even had his casket carried on a custom version of the car for his funeral.
