R&B group TLC are depending on their fans from the huge success of “Waterfalls,” “Creep,” and “No Scrubs” to fund their final album with a Kickstarter campaign.

Since the death of member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in 2002, the Grammy-winning group now only consists of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli Thomas” and it has been thirteen years since the release of their last album “3D.”

“We’ve always been known to do things differently. We’ve always been trailblazers and trendsetters. We’ve always been outspoken, and this seems like the perfect opportunity,” T-Boz said of their decision to use a Kickstarter for their fifth album.

The pair are hoping to raise at least $150,000 to fund paying for studio time, production, payment of musicians and album marketing and promotion.

Although they are aware that people are wondering why they cannot just pay for the album themselves, they said it’s about involving fans as well as being able to produce the album they want as a group.

“We could knock out two birds with one stone. We can have them involved in our album. Then also, we can have control over everything. That’s a perfect combination,” Chilli stated.

TLC is asking for a minimum donation of $5 and everyone who donates will receive a digital track and be able to stay in contact with the group throughout the recording process.

Supporters who donate large amounts will receive VIP concert tickets, a voicemail from the group, attend a fitness class taught by Chilli and will get clothing pieces worn by TLC in their music videos.

TLC is expected to team up with New Kids on the Block and rapper Nelly for their upcoming tour.
