Young And The Restless Unveils One New Character And Recasts Another

Published on August 17, 2022.

Some new faces are making their way to Genoa City! The Young and the Restless (Y&R) has revealed that a new character and a recasting are coming to screens in September.

Actress and model Zuleyka Silver has been cast in the role of Audra Charles, according to Soaps.com, and will make her Y&R debut on Friday, September 23rd. Silver has scored a number of prime time roles over the past few years, appearing on Code Black, The Mentalist, Hawaii 5-0 and Young Sheldon.

Details on the new character are flimsy, but according to the official press release, Charles will be “lured to town by one of Genoa City’s business icons”. Given the game of musical chairs with CEOs and COOs on Y&R as of late, it’s anyone’s guess who will call on Ms. Charles.

Could Lily bring her to Chancellor-Winters to smooth things over between Devon and Nate? Perhaps Charles will play a pivotal role at Jabot, or be introduced as a powerhouse business woman who came over from Milan in the Marchetti takeover?

Since Silver is a model in real life, perhaps her character will challenge Tessa for the brand ambassador position at Marchetti. The possibilities are endless!

The announcement of this character arrives within a day of the news that Imani Benedict will be recast, with actress Denise Boutte assuming the role. This casting change is expected to be a temporary one, as the original Imani, Leigh-Ann Rose, has a scheduling conflict.

Boutte has a number of projects on the horizon, including Amazon Prime series Kombucha Cure as well as thrillers The Missing and Angie’s Cure. Although it’s unclear how long Rose will be off-screen, Boutte will make her Y&R debut on Tuesday, September 6th.
