A brand-new year has many fans within The Young and the Restless (Y&R) wondering what will unfold in the next 12 months! Who will break up? Who will make up? Will any old and familiar faces pop back into the Genoa City scene? Any new characters on the horizon? With all this speculation, below are some Y&R plot predictions for 2020.

12. Sharon’s Condition

Y&R spoilers reveal that Sharon will soon get a cancer diagnosis that will turn her entire world upside down. She’ll most likely let her children know, which may have Noah, Faith, or possibly both, returning to Genoa City to help out with her condition. With that said, she may push out Rey, to keep him from any pain or suffering he could endure once her illness worsens.

11. Shey’s Breakup

Seems like there is a good chance that Sharon and Rey could break up in the coming weeks, as she intentionally pushes him away. The good news is that Sharon will have her family by her side through all this for support; however, the sad news is that Rey will be left feeling very confused by Sharon’s actions.

10. Dylan Returns

If there is any worry that Sharon may pass on due to her illness, there’s a good chance that Dylan could return to town. After everything that happened leading up to his exit, he may want to come back to Genoa City to see Sharon one last time. He may also just want to help support her during this hard time. Whether actor Steve Burton is able to return for a short time, or the role is recast for a longer storyline (perhaps Dylan comes back for good), McAvoy returning to the Y&R would make things interesting.

9. Amanda and Billy

Moving along to other predictions, it doesn’t take a fortune teller to see that Amanda and Billy will have a one-night stand (perhaps more) in the near future. They’ll be stuck in a situation where they let their urges get the better of them, and they will cross a line. Victoria is bound to find out, and Villy could very well be a thing of the past.

8. Victoria and Rey Tease

With Vicky and Rey both suddenly single, could these two explore their options come 2020? Seems like it would be an interesting pairing, even if Victoria uses Rey (and vice versa) to get over Billy/Sharon. They may decide to jump in the sack or flirt and share some drinks (and relationship war stories), or they may just go out on a few dates; however, Rey and Victoria teasing a relationship could be something that unravels.

7. Phyllis’ World

Phyllis and Nick seem to be teasing a reunion; however, she also seems to be trying to cozy up to Chance as well. Phyllis will continue to bob back and forth between these two men, but eventually will land back in Nick’s arms. It’s time for an OG Phick reunion for Y&R fans to really sink their teeth into.

6. Chadam’s Bumpy Road

Chelsea and Adam will have a bumpy road in their reunion. Not only is Adam nervous about finally having Chelsea back (worried he may screw up), but Chelsea has her reservations too. They’ll stumble along 2020. Adam may do something that has Chelsea running away, but she’ll ultimately remember that she’s giving Newman another chance and she’ll have Connor’s needs in mind too. They’ll hit some obstacles, but these will only make their relationship stronger.

5. Wedding Bells

By mid-to-end of 2020, Y&R fans shouldn’t be overly surprised if they hear wedding bells for Chadam this year. Not only that, a new baby – a chance to truly be a solid family and give Connor a real sibling – may be something that is on the horizon for these two as this year comes to a close.

4. Chance and Abby

These two will continue their cute little relationship come 2020, and suffer from some minor bumps thanks to Phyllis. Once she settles down with Nick, Chabby’s next obstacle may be an ex returning to town. Perhaps, Stitch or Arturo come back to the little town to mess with Abby’s mind or Heather Stevens returns to turn see if she still stands a “Chance”? While the last fans heard, Stevens was with Daniel, raising little Lucy, maybe things have changed between the two, which would send Heather back to Genoa City.

3. Jack’s Love Life

After everything that happened with Kerry Johnson early this year, it is time for the Y&R writers to come up with a bona fide love affair for Jack Abbott. He not only deserves it … his fans do too! While viewers have heard a lot about Theo’s dad, little has been said around his mother. Could she come join her son in Genoa City to spark some romance with Theo’s number one fan at Jabot, Jack Abbott?

2. Kyle’s World Starts To Crumble

Kyle ended 2019 with a bang thanks to his marriage to Lola and his position as CEO at Jabot. This new year may promise some hard roads ahead. With Theo’s eyes on Lola, he could drive a wedge into his “cousin’s” marriage. He may also be able to mess with his mind, thus causing Kyle to make a mistake lose that prestigious CEO position; Theo could even set Kyle up for failure. Things could be headed downhill for Kyle come 2020.

1. Summer’s On The Rise

She may have a long way to go; however, Summer has been wowing everyone with her work at Jabot. Could Kyle lose his CEO job due to a slipup, only to have Summer promoted or given a chance as co-CEO along with Jack (or potentially Ashley)? While there is a tease around a Kyle/Summer/Theo/Lola couple swap, nothing bona fide has happened … yet. Just as Kyle and Summer could be close to crossing a line, if Abbott’s career crumbles, he could push away his longtime friend and ex, for good.
