‘Bachelor’ Peter Weber And Madison Prewett Reportedly Were Never Really “Back Together”

Bachelor Nations fans were really hoping to see Peter Weber find his happily-ever-after after the end of his Bachelor season, but the reality star will just have to wait a little while longer.

“Peter is single,” a source told PEOPLE about the 28-year-old pilot’s love life, who had split from runner-up Madison Prewett two days after they appeared on the March 10 airing of After the Final Rose special. “He’s taking some time to figure out what he wants to do next.”

After Weber’s split from ex-fiancée Hannah Ann Sluss, to whom he proposed to on The Bachelor‘s finale, it appeared that Weber might have been able to start off fresh with Prewett, who initially left the show when he admitted that he’d been intimate with the other women during the Fantasy Suite Dates.

But in the end, “they were never really back together,” the source said. “They just realized they couldn’t make it work.”

“Madison is very saddened by everything that’s transpired,” said a different source close Prewett. “She cares for Peter and wanted to work through their challenges. But it just got too difficult and seemed like everything was against them.”

When it came to Weber’s mom Barbara Weber, who had plenty to say about Prewett at the After the Final Rose special, she “feels badly if she ever unintentionally hurt the Weber family. Madi is trying to stay positive.”

At the same time, Weber, who has been “romantically” linked to Bachelor producer Julie LaPlaca as well as Kelley Flanagan (who both denied dating rumors) “is not dating anyone now,” the source said.

The source added: “Everything that Peter went through on The Bachelor really hit him hard. He is aware that people think he made a ton of mistakes. But he never wanted to hurt anyone and he truly hoped he’d find a relationship that would last.”
