Days Of Our Lives Director Pleads With Fans To Sign Up For Peacock
Published on August 9, 2022.Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) director Scott McKinsey has revealed that the soap will have a much better chance of remaining profitable on Peacock – but only if viewers pay up!
McKinsey aimed to do some damage control on Facebook, addressing “peoples’ sour reaction” about the soap opera’s move from NBC to Peacock. In the post, he also pleaded with fans to support Peacock during this pivotal moment in DOOL’s history.
“The show has not been canceled, and/or ‘picked up’ by Peacock,” McKinsey said in an effort to set the record straight. “This is a big difference from the sad demise of ABC’s One Life To Live and All My Children.”
McKinsey, one of several Emmy-winning directors on the soap, sees a lot of potential benefits to the Peacock acquisition. He mentioned that every cast member will remain on the canvas and that viewers might gain access to every single DOOL episode.

In a particularly honest revelation, McKinsey acknowledged that the best part about the move to Peacock is that it likely saves DOOL from cancellation — at least in the short term.
“In fact, the prospect of Days remaining in production for the long term just increased as a result of this move,” he revealed. “Without Peacock, Days might have been numbered on the Network.”
However, the post also made clear that DOOL is not out of the woods quite yet. The soap’s transition to Peacock will be heavily scrutinized, and McKinsey is hoping that all fans will get behind their favorite daytime drama.
“In an effort to keep the show airing, I’m going to ask you a favor,” he wrote. “Please consider signing on to Peacock for at least a month, near the date of September 12th, to demonstrate your interest in following Days to its new platform.”

“This will help solidify DOOL’s chances of remaining viable with Peacock,” he explained. “They will understand that the increased subscriptions around that date are associated with Days viewers.”
McKinsey’s comments stand in sharp contrast to those made by Mark Lazarus, Chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. In NBC’s announcement, Lazarus had insisted that “a large percentage” of DOOL viewers were “already watching digitally”.
Perhaps McKinsey has a better read of the situation, given his proximity to the set, and realizes the stakes involved.
“After that, I understand if you can’t elect to stay subscribed,” he added. “But please send us over to Peacock with as much support as you and your friends can muster.”
