Actor John Reilly, best known for his roles on General Hospital and Beverly Hills, 90210, has sadly passed at the age of 84.
Reilly’s daughter Caitlin Reilly shared the unfortunate news of her father’s death on Instagram on Sunday. A cause of passing was not revealed.
“John Henry Matthew Reilly AKA Jack. The brightest light in the world has gone out,” Caitlin wrote in the caption of a throwback photo with her father. “Imagine the best person in the world. Now imagine that person being your dad. I’m so grateful he was mine. I’m so grateful I got to love him. I’m so grateful I made it in time to hold him and say goodbye.”
“I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do, but I know he’ll be with me,” Caitlin added. “I love you forever Daddy.”
Reilly was born in Chicago and got his start in the entertainment industry with guest-starring roles in the 1960s on shows such as Death Valley Days, Apple’s Way, and Gunsmoke. In 1984, he landed a role on Dallas and starred in six episodes as Roy Ralston.
After his role in Dallas, Reilly was cast on General Hospital as WSB agent Sean Donely. He played the role for 11 years and departed from the show in 1994 after deciding not to renew his contract. His character was written off the show the following year when he and his onscreen wife Tiffany Hill, played by Sharon Wyatt, moved away.
Fans may also remember Reilley for his role as Kelly Taylor’s often-absentee father, Billy Taylor, on Beverly Hills, 90210. He also had recurring roles as Del Douglas on Sunset Boulevard from 1997 to 1999 and as Alistair Crane on Passions from 2005 to 2008.
