King Charles III has led the procession in his mother’s state funeral.
Members of the royal family joined The King as they followed Queen Elizabeth’s coffin. The procession ran from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey before her state funeral began on Monday morning in London.
King Charles appeared serious and solemn for the occasion. He was joined walking behind the Queen’s coffin with siblings Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
He was also joined by his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, who walked behind King Charles with their cousin, Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips.
The coffin reached Westminster Abbey just before 11 a.m. local time. Bearers lifted the coffin into the church and the service inside will be led by David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster.
The traditional bugle call of the British infantry, The Last Post, will ring at 11:55 a.m. A two-minute silence will be observed around the U.K. at the time and the service is set to conclude at noon.
Following the service, the coffin will proceed to Wellington Arch in Hyde Park in central London and leave the capital city in the State Hearse. Members of the royal family are expected to walk behind at this time.
