It has been a dramatic week for Bachelor nation and the show isn’t even on!

Earlier this week, ABC announced in a last minute decision that two-time Bachelorette runner-up Nick Viall was going to be season 21’s Bachelor, and everybody was surprised, especially the guy who thought he was the bachelor: Luke Pell.

Pell finally spoke out about the shocking last-minute switch, and now his mom Susie Pell is standing up for him. Pell posted a sweet note his mom wrote on his Instagram reading: “Through all of these ‘Bachelorette/Bachelor’ events I have not responded to very many posts or comments. I didn’t want to do anything that could be twisted in any way to cause my son any trouble. So, I just kept quiet. Now, I just want to say how proud I am of him and my daughter too, for that matter. He is not perfect!! He has fought for his freedom and our countries freedom, he is a bronze star recipient, he loves and cherishes family and friends, he appreciates life because he has seen plenty of death, he works very very hard at ANYTHING he does, he is gentle, giving & humble and he loves country music and loves the Lord.”

She added, “He is a lot more than meets the eye. Love to you all for being there during this fun, but sometimes stressful time,” she continued. “Believe me: he and we are blessed and there will be plenty other doors to open. It’s all just part of HIS journey.”

Luke, 31, shared the post along with the caption, “My precious mom. #heartofgold #nextchapter.” Even though Pell has no hard feelings about what happened and how it happened, he did say there is no chance he will ever agree to be the bachelor now.
