Palace Responds To Prince Harry’s Remarks On Voting, Calling His Comments ‘Personal’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently made a public statement about the upcoming U.S. presidential election and the Palace responded calling their remarks on voting “personal.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first primetime TV appearance on Tuesday to celebrate Time magazine’s annual list of the world’s most influential people. The royal couple used their segment to speak about the importance of voting.

Meghan called the presidential race the “most important election of our lifetime” as the couple appealed to Americans to use their right to vote. Prince Harry also noted that he won’t be able to vote in the upcoming election and added “many of you may not know that I haven’t been able to vote in the U.K. my entire life.”

“As we approach this November, it’s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity,” he said.

When Buckingham Palace was reached out to for comment, they responded explaining that they “would not comment” and added, “The Duke is not a working member of the Royal Family and any comments he makes are made in a personal capacity.”
