Queen Elizabeth To Step Back From All Public Appearances Until Fall

Published on May 12, 2020.

Queen Elizabeth is stepping back from her public royal duties for the majority of 2020!

According to reports, the 94-year-old monarch will not step out for an official public duty until the fall at the earliest. A royal source shared with The Sunday Times, “The Queen won’t do anything which goes against the advice of people in her [age] category, and she’s going to take all the appropriate advice. There are discussions on what we could do and couldn’t do come October.”

A Buckingham Palace spokesman also shared, “The Queen continues to be busy and will follow appropriate advice on engagements.” Due to the ongoing health and safety concerns, she’s continued to stay busy with phone calls, many of which have been with U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Due to the Queen’s decision to stay home for an extended period of time, it’s likely she and Prince Philip won’t be returning to Buckingham Palace until the fall. The duo has been staying at Windsor Castle since March 19.

The Queen’s last public appearance was on Commonwealth Day on March 9, which also happened to be the last public engagement for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as working members of the royal family.
