Amid the news that actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman were among those indicted in the FBI’s massive Operation Varsity Blues college admissions scandal, some others in Hollywood are seemingly responding.
Actor Rob Lowe took to his Twitter to respond to his son John Lowe’s tweet from the day he graduated university, writing, “Very proud of my honest, hardworking sons.”
The reply came after John, 24, took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the scandal.
“I studied for MONTHS for the SAT. Twice, sometimes three times a week. Tons of practice tests. Ended up taking the SAT multiple times as well. College apps were no joke… the amount of stress kids put into that to potentially lose a spot to someone unfairly is horrible,” his first Tweet read.
He continued, “And let me say: I’m incredibly grateful that I had the privilege and opportunity to have a tutor and to afford practice test programs. A lot of kids don’t. And to think of them losing their chance at their dream school to someone undeserving is really, really gross.”
He concluded with the photo from his graduation day at Standford University, writing, “Still proud of this achievement. Happy for everyone out there who earned their accomplishments…and really sad for those who were never allowed the opportunity.”
Actor James Van Der Beek also chimed in on the alleged crimes and tweeted, “If only there was a succinct turn of phrase these kids could have used to inform their parents they were not desirous of their life path…”
The records that were unsealed on Tuesday, March 12 named 50 people and said the schools involved included Yale, Georgetown, the University of Southern California and Stanford.
“Dozens of individuals involved in a nationwide conspiracy that facilitated cheating on college entrance exams and the admission of students to elite universities as purported athletic recruits were arrested by federal agents in multiple states and charged in documents unsealed on March 12, 2019, in federal court in Boston,” the release says.
