Teen Mom’s Mackenzie McKee Reveals Husband Josh Re-Proposed After Brief Split

Teen Mom OG stars Mackenzie McKee and Josh McKee are giving their marriage another chance!
After Mackenzie announced earlier in the summer that she and Josh had parted ways, it turns out that they have reconciled and are starting over after Josh planned a huge 25th birthday surprise that ended with him re-proposing.
“This man…. I will never forget my 25th birthday. 6 hours of opening up clues and going on a scavenger hunt,” she shared on social media with a collage of photos from the romantic moment. “Even putting on a dress you picked out.”
She continued, “”I still can’t believe the work God has done. My ring is beautiful and I choose you over and over. Here’s to new beginnings in Christ. #youdonthavetounderstandourlovestory.”
Mackenzie, who starred on the short-lived Teen Mom 3, before joining Teen Mom OG in 2019 after the exit of stars Farrah Abraham and Bristol Palin, opened up to PEOPLE about the big surprise and how things have changed between herself and her husband. “We found our way back to each other even when we thought it was impossible,” Mackenzie said. “I fell in love with a new man.”
“Our marriage has always needed fixing. It’s always needed help,” she continued, adding that there has been infidelity in the past on both sides. “I had been angry with him for a long time and had never really forgiven him for the past.”
She revealed that when they split in the summer, she thought there was no hope of them ever being together again until Josh suggested that they go to a marriage counseling retreat together. Although she was reluctant, things changed when she saw how hard Josh was trying, and she saw the effort he was putting into making things work and bettering himself.
“One day we were walking back to our hotel room after a lesson and he just stopped me and said, ‘I’m ready to give my life to Christ. I really want to be saved,’ ” she recalled. “That is something that I’ve been patiently praying for nine years.”
During the epic scavenger hunt for her birthday, Josh planned everything including telling her to throw her old wedding ring into a lake, and when she reached the end he proposed with a brand new ring.
“I see this cowboy that I married dressed up in this suit with a rose in his mouth,” she says. “And he was walking towards me and the music starts playing and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh. I cannot believe this is happening,'” she said of the moment. Mackenzie also revealed that Josh already planned the vow renewal including choosing the venue and the date.
Audiences were first introduced to Josh and Mackenzie when they appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2011 and welcomed their son Gannon on September 12, 2011. She was then cast in the spin-off Teen Mom 3 but it only lasted one season in 2013. Mackenzie and Josh were married on August 17, 2013 and welcomed their daughter Jaxie on February 7, 2014 and their third child, son Broncs on August 15, 2016.
