14 Boring Real Housewives Who Were Kicked Off The Show

Published on March 29, 2016. Updated October 27, 2016

The Real Housewives is all about the drama. It’s common knowledge that if the ladies aren’t contributing to high ratings or bringing enough entertainment, their invitation to the franchise will expire. The Bravo series is all about giving viewers a look inside the lives of the most glamorous women in America and all the perks of their wealth: the parties, luxury vacations, grandiose mansions and, of course, cat fights and squabbles. The reality series has been around for quite some time now with many seasons spanning multiple different cities, so viewers have seen a lot of women come and go over the past little while! Some of these ladies have left on their own accord while others were given the boot for being too ‘normal.’ Here’s a look at some of the most boring women to have ever been featured on the Real Housewives and then abruptly kicked off.

14. Katie Rost

This professional philanthropist was apart of Bravo’s newest Real Housewives series, The Real Housewives of Potomac. Katie Rost didn’t make many friends during her time on the show, but she definitely brought the drama. This former model and recently divorced mom of three spent the entire time on the show nagging her then boyfriend Andrew to propose. She never missed an opportunity to put him on the stand and call him out for not taking their relationship “seriously.” A lot of viewers didn’t take kindly to her pushy ways and it was obvious she was using the show to promote the Rost Foundation. It’s not all that surprising that she got the boot because Rost didn’t get along with any of the other women and her story wasn’t all that interesting. News of her departure was announced on her Twitter back in June: “Sad to annouce I will not be on #RHOP this season. Can’t make my life exciting enough. #DeliveredTomorrow.”

13. Aviva Drescher

Aviva Drescher made quite the splash on The Real Housewives of New York City when she showed up in season 5. Not only was she the first housewives to have a prosthetic limb, but she also brought along her 78-year-old father, George Teichner, who was a little too frisky with the other women and was constantly bragging about his sexual escapades. Aviva lasted longer than some of the other women on this list: she stuck around for two seasons. She was the first and only cast member to be booted off the show after season 6 wrapped up and it was most likely because she refused to attend various events. Aviva was accused of faking illnesses and even blackmailing her way into another season. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Carole Radziwill said executive producers told her that Aviva’s husband, Reid, said he would only take Aviva to Montana to film with the other ladies if she was guaranteed a spot on the next season. Talk about desperate! “The executive producer told me, Ramona and Sonja that in Montana. So it’s, like, we’re hearing that, behind-the-scenes, back-door deals. So it’s not like we’re horrible, insensitive women that are calling her a liar. It’s like, no, this is actually what’s going on,” said Radziwill. It’s safe to say the Drescher’s pushy tactics didn’t sit well with producers and she was given the boot after season 6!

12. Gretchen Rossi

This Orange County barbie was scrutinized from the day she joined the show back in season 4 to her last day of filming in season 8. When Gretchen Rossi joined The Real Housewives of Orange County she was called every name in the book because she was engaged to a much older, terminally ill man named Jeff Beitzel. After he passed, she struck up a relationship with Slade Smiley who was notorious for dating Housewives. She clashed with many of the women on the show, mainly Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson, but she did have some good relationships at times. She lasted four seasons which is a pretty good feat, but once her storyline became the same old tale each season, she wasn’t asked to return. She got the boot the same time as Aleix Bellino. Apparently both women became too boring for the show. Gretchen denied being fired from the show and said she was offered a spin-off series (which we’ve yet to hear about), but her and Slade turned it down. It was rumored that Gretchen and Slade were searching for a new reality series to star on and even appeared on Marriage Boot Camp…doesn’t sound like a couple that just turned down their own spin-off series!

11. Lynne Curtain

It’s surprising Lynne Curtain got the boot from the show because she was never short of any drama in her life! From going broke, to getting evicted, divorced and having two rebelling daughters, this Orange County Housewife had her hands full. She was a main cast member on The Real Housewives of Orange County for season 4 and 5, but was only asked to return as a guest star in season 6. Curtain wasn’t happy about being fired and we’re pretty sure she needed the extra cash, but she held her head high. “I am broken hearted! I was so let down the way this came about! We were the last to know! I guess Bravo has to do what they have to do! I thought we had a great relationship! I guess I was wrong! Its funny how fast offers came to us from other places! That’s how we found out we were not returning!” She also claimed that she’d be returning to the small screen for another show, but that never happened. Still a friend to some of the other ladies on the show, Lynne makes a few appearances now and again.

10. Kathryn Edwards

Kathryn Edwards is the most recent housewife to have been fired from the Bravo franchise. She appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for season 6, but shortly after the season ended reports stated she would not be returning for season 7. Edwards was an interesting addition to the show considering her connection to the O.J. Simpson case and Kyle Richards’ controversial friend, Faye Resnick, but it played a small part in her storyline. She appeared on the show with her hunky husband, a retired NFL star, Donnie Edwards, who was a fan favorite for viewers. Unfortunately the former model wasn’t able to captivate viewers with her story. In her finale Bravo blog post, Edwards confronted the topic of her departure. She kept her explanation sweet and simple: “I’ve had fun and have made some valued friendships. I’ve enjoyed meeting a lot of people who have approached me while I’m out and about, and I’ve taken so much from the people who have shared their stories that parallel my own.”

9. Kristen Taekman

Kristen Taekman is the only housewife on this list to have lasted longer than one season. She was featured on The Real Housewives of New York City for season 6 and 7, but announced in the Fall she would not be returning for the upcoming eighth season. Her announcement came at the heels of her husband, Josh Taekman, being outed for having an account on Ashley Madison, an infidelity website. His name was found on a list of subscribers after hackers accessed the site and leaked information. Kristen definitely wasn’t one of the worst housewives to grace the show, and it seems she’s leaving for personal reasons rather than being fired, but for the most part she didn’t bring much to the table in terms of drama. She definitely got into some little squabbles, but most of the time they just seemed to stem from her not getting enough attention from the other women or having her feelings brushed under the rug due to her quiet personality. Kristen was definitely a good mom and well-to-do person, but she was overshadowed a lot by the other noisy New Yorkers on the show with big personalities.

8. Joyce Giraud

Joyce Giraud was featured on season 4 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but after a dull season and no fan support, she was not asked to return for the fifth season. Ouch. The former beauty queen did manage to ruffle a few feathers while she was on the show, mainly with Brandi Glanville, but who doesn’t butt heads with her? She was fired alongside one season cast member Carlton Gebbia and the two have seemed to moved on fine without the show.

7. Lizzie Rovsek

Lizzie Rovesk was another housewife who was just too normal and level headed to be on the The Real Housewives of Orange County. She never engaged in an argument, and if she did, she remained cool as a cucumber. Boring. Despite being over-the-top with her pageant style looks (she was a former Miss Kentucky after all) she is a smart business woman whose biggest worry in life was bikini designs and how to manage daily tasks with her husband and two kids. We can look to our own lives to see that Lizzie — we want to see drama! She only lasted one season, but still makes guest appearances on the show to hangout with the other women.

6. Peggy Tanous

Peggy Tanous started off on The Real Housewives of Orange County making guest appearances as Alexis Bellino’s friend and having regular play dates with their kids. The following season she was invited on as a regular cast member, but that didn’t last long! Peggy’s big story on the show was her shared struggle with postpartum depression which was extremely touching and shed light on an important subject, but she also used her air time to advocate her holistic lifestyle. According to reports, Peggy was not fired from the show, but rather made her own decision to not return after suffering a severe fall out in her friendship with Alexis. She claimed she wanted to focus more on her family and that leaving would help with her anxiety. We’re pretty sure if she stayed on the show it would have been short lived because underneath the blonde hair, implants and money she didn’t contribute much to the group.

5. Carlton Gebbia

Carlton Gebbia appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in season 4. When the season wrapped up, her and Joyce Giraud were both abruptly fired. Apparently neither of the woman sat well with viewers, especially Carlton. She came onto the show as a kind of breathe of fresh air because she seemed very down to earth and wasn’t shy about sharing her Wiccan beliefs, touring cameras through her Gothic mansion and discussing her sexual prowess in the bedroom. Unfortunately, she wasn’t exactly appealing to the larger demographic and she soon became cast as the evil Housewife who wasn’t getting along with the other women. For a long time Carlton remained quiet about her firing, but when she did speak out, she held her head high and called it a blessing in disguise. She said: “I sort of look at it as a blessing in disguise because my husband does have a project in the works, a reality show. It’s something that would give me the opportunity to work with him. I was contractually obligated for a three-year deal and if that’s the case, I’m not anymore.” She doesn’t have any hard feelings…that we know of and said she enjoyed working for Bravo. But it’s safe to say two years later, there’s no other reality show in the works for Gebbia.

4. Cindy Barshop

To be fair, we are pretty sure Cindy Barshop only agreed to go on the show in order to promote her Completely Bare hair removal business, but she was just way too normal for this kind of show and it was evident early on in the season. Cindy was initially invited onto The Real Housewives of New York City in 2011 to fill the void of Bethenny Frankel’s absence, but in the end it just wasn’t enough for the single mom and tough business woman to continue on past one season. She always seemed to backed down from a fight, not because she was a push over, but more because she didn’t vibe with crazy. She barely said a word during the reunion show and always seemed slightly disinterested in what the other women were bickering about. Nothing to be ashamed about there, but Cindy is definitely not reality television material!

3. Quinn Fry

Quinn was featured on season 3 of The Real Housewives of Orange County and was deemed the drama free divorcee. She stood out from the other housewives because she was a little too down-to-earth. She didn’t engage in gossip, indulge in plastic surgery or use botox which among this particular group of women made her stand out, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to keep her around. She definitely took it a little hard stating publicly that she “blocked the Bravo channel for 2 years” and that she never fully understood why they gave her the boot. It’s been a long while since then and she’s admitted since that she had too many “filters” on while she was filming for the show. Gotta let the wall down and crazy out for the Real Housewives!

2. Deshawn Snow

Deshawn Snow was on The Real Housewives of Atlanta first season and it ended up being her first and only season. She’s still to this day most remembered for her failed charity event. In an interview with Essence, Deshawn said she was literally let go for being too normal. She said producers told her she was “too human for a circus show.” It’s like being given a compliment whilst being fired. Turns out this was probably the best thing for her. Since leaving the show she has divorced her husband of 12 years, NBA player Eric Snow, and lost 30 pounds! She’s also wrote a children’s book and is the author of a teen book series called “Lil Shawnee.”

1. Alex McCord

This Brooklyn socialite was given the pink slip from The Real Housewives of New York City after season 4 and she was not happy about it. Lucky for her, she managed to capitalize off being fired when she teamed up with the gossip website RumorFix and released a series of videos that revealed behind-the-scenes secrets about the production team, what goes on during filming and what the other women are really like! Before she was fired, it was no secret that McCord didn’t fit in with the other ladies. She and her husband Simon experienced problems were constantly having problems with the other women and overall just didn’t mesh well with the rest of the cast. The had been with the show since the first season back in 2008 so when she was fired after four years it hurt. She opened up about the experience on GMA and said. “You never want it to be someone else’s decision that you’re not coming back. So, sure, it felt like being laid off. And that didn’t feel good.” We’d say she’s gotten her revenge since she’s blasted all of her cast mates in the media and revealed tons of juicy secrets.
