With the new year quickly approaching, it’s that time of year where we look back at the biggest and most memorable fashion moments of 2017! The stars of Hollywood always have a way to surprise us when it comes to their fashion and this year is no different. Whether it’s completely unexpected, out of the ordinary, jaw-dropping or just simply stunning, we recalled ten of the absolute biggest celebrity fashion moments of the year. Follow along as we look in retrospect at 2017’s most memorable fashion moments:

10. Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore has made a huge comeback this year with the impact of her new leading role as Rebecca on This Is Us. Aside from doing a fabulous job on screen, this celeb seems to be making waves with her red carpet fashion as well! This particular look was simple but still quite bold and made a huge statement at the 2017 Golden Globe awards. The dress consisted of an ultra-low v-neck, dramatic cape draping over her back and a flattering A-line shape.

9. Emma Stone

Emma Stone made a huge impact at this year’s Oscar’s where she won the award for Best Actress for her performance in La La Land! Her glitzy outfit, however, was also quite the conversation piece. The stunning and original gown featured a textured gold print that flattered her auburn hair and porcelain complexion flawlessly. The fringe on the bottom of the dress was sleek, visually interesting but not overwhelming on her petite frame. “The entire dress was hand beaded onto lace,” her stylist explained of the dress. “It took over 1,700 hours and a team of 11 from the Givenchy Atelier. It’s a beaded wonder. When you see it up close it’s a marvel of various golden colors, shapes and sizes.”

8. Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra was a vision in white at the 2017 Oscar’s this year and definitely turned heads in her geometric yet whimsical Ralph and Russo design. The column-style dressed hugged her hourglass figure perfectly and featured a square, deep-split bodice. To top off the look she donned two chunky diamond cuff bracelets and sleeked her straight hair behind her ears to show off her drop style earrings. Chopra was a constant red carpet winner this year, but this look in particular definitely made an impact.

7. Katy Perry

Pop sensation Katy Perry hosted this year’s VMA’s which of course came with quite a few outfit changes. One dress, in particular, landed her on many best-dressed lists this season and is even one of the most memorable fashion moments of the entire year! The structured white Stéphane Rolland couture gown was sophisticated, edgy and still totally feminine, which is a hard combination to master when it comes to fashion! The one-shoulder cape detailing made the look appear structural and even more so with the circular oversized earrings she rocked.

6. Bella Hadid

Bella Hadid stepped out at the amfAR gala in Cannes wearing perhaps one of the most risque looks we’ve seen all year! The completely sheer Ralph & Russo design turned quite a few heads and featured a bustier and brief underlayer which was covered by layers of crystals. The designer described the gown as, a “custom nude illusion tulle gown with draped pleating and high split leg, elaborately hand embroidered with crystals, glass beads and silver chain.”

5. Rihanna

The Met Gala is known for its high-fashion, artful pieces and year after year the creations seem to get more extravagant! Rihanna, however, blew us away this year with her Comme des Garçons architectural look. The piece was reportedly inspired by 18th-century “punks” and consisted of floral fabrics layered to resemble pulled apart petals. The couture piece took two years for the designer to create and the on-theme dramatic piece captured the spirit of the night impeccably well. She paired the look with red heels that laced all the way up her legs and extravagant rose-colored makeup.

4. Kate Middleton

The growing royal family is definitely one of the most stylish families of 2017! One of our favorite fashion moments for this lovely family this year was when they stepped out wearing matching lavender attire while in Germany this past summer. Kate wore a long sleeve A-line dress that matched perfectly with little George’s top and Charlotte’s flowy dress. Even William matched the group by wearing a deep purple tie. This adorable family looked royal indeed clad in all purple and we undeniably applaud them for this fabulous fashion moment.

3. Gigi Hadid & Zayn

Gigi Hadid and boyfriend Zayn are definitely one of Hollywood’s most fashionable couples! This year they posed on the cover of Vogue for a special androgynous fashion issue where they proved that fashion doesn’t have to be defined by gender. In the Vogue story, the famous duo spoke about how they often borrow each other’s clothing. “What was that T-Shirt I borrowed the other day?” Malik asked Hadid. “I like that shirt. And if it’s tight on me, so what? It doesn’t matter if it was made for a girl,” he spoke confidently.

2. Beyonce

Beyonce gave birth to twins Sir and Rumi Carter this year and made quite the social media stir when she posted the reveal photo of the children to her Instagram. The photo paid homage to her pregnancy announcement that broke the Internet and was the instigator of countless memes and variations over the following months. In her reveal post, Beyonce wore a colorful purple sheath wrapped around her body as a dress that swaddled her two newborns. The post is one of the most liked ever on Instagram and has a grand total of 10.2 million likes, which most definitely makes this one of the biggest fashion moments of the year.

1. Janelle Monae

Janelle Monae most definitely did not hold back for her first appearance at the Academy Awards! Monae arrived in an ornate Elie Saab Haute Couture gown that was encrusted with layers of diamonds and intricate beading twisted into the shape of birds. “This is her first Oscars, and she’s there for two films, so it felt like ‘go big or go home,’” Monae’s stylist said of the elaborate gown. “We had no reason to be understated tonight.” The moment Monae stepped onto the red carpet her dress began to trend on Twitter and ogling fans raved over her whimsical dress and fairytale red carpet moment.
