Golden Globes 2017: 10 Worst Dressed Stars

Published on January 9, 2017.

On Sunday, January 8, many of Hollywood’s biggest stars descended upon the Beverly Hilton for the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards. As one of the first major awards shows of the season, many were just as interested in the hot new fashion for the year as well as who was going to be taking home awards, and as always, not everyone hit the mark when it came to red carpet fashion. While all 10 of these ladies are stunning, they all could have done themselves much more justice with different style choices for the big night! Check out the 10 worst dressed stars at the 2017 Golden Globes:

10. Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore’s makeup and hair were absolutely stunning, and fans only hoped that the rest of her outfit would live up to the standards set by her beauty team — unfortunately it did not. Barrymore’s Monique L’Huillier gown was going for far too many looks at once and because of that didn’t successfully achieve any of them. While it had the potential to be a nice gown with it’s top half, the second opening to the skirt threw the entire look off.

9. Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington has certainly become a force to be reckoned with on the red carpet and because of that we were expecting a lot more from her Golden Globes’ style. The Scandal star chose a yellow Dolce & Gabbana that had a lot of potential, but ended up being disappointing. The design was a new take on the sheer look as underneath was only subtly visible, but what made it worse were the heavy cap sleeps and the out of place embellishment at the waist.

8. Nicole Kidman

At recent events Nicole Kidman has donned some truly interesting fashion but, unfortunately for the gorgeous star, interesting doesn’t necessarily mean it was good. While Kidman’s slender frame was perfect for the fit of her “shipwreck” style Alexander McQueen gown, it ended up being a little underwhelming. With a few too many sequins, and absolutely horrendous sleeves, we just know Kidman can do better.

7. Anna Chlumsky

Veep star Anna Chlumsky could have done much better than the green column dress she wore for the awards show. The wrapped gown was reminiscent of drapery and even the cinched waist did nothing to flatter her figure. Meanwhile her pulled back hair and large hoop earrings made the beautiful actress look much to harsh, and fans know she can do much better than this emerald number.

6. Carrie Underwood

It is very rare for country superstar Carrie Underwood to find herself on the worst dressed list at any event, and maybe high expectations for her fashion choices, which is what makes her Golden Globes dress even more disappointing. Underwood donned a pink Iris Serban gown that would have been nice aside from the glaring rippled embellishment on the top and over the shoulders. Many likened it to cake icing and even female genitalia, and while that may be far fetched, there is no denying it was not her best look and one of the worst of the night.

5. Felicity Jones

Granted, Felicity Jones is always expected to wear something outside of the box, but it seems it has never really worked and her Golden Globes gown was one of the worst. Jones chose a Gucci two toned pink gown that looked as if two completely separate dresses had been meshed together. The black bow belt did not match the sheer bright pink skirt or the more neutral top, while the embroidered blush top also did not match the sheer pink skirt.

4. Keri Russell

Keri Russell’s Golden Globes dress left a lot to be desired as it took some of the worst fashion trends in recent years and seemingly blended them together. The Americans actress donned a plunging leopard-print dress complete with a multi-layered skirt, cape sleeves and a thick black choker necklace. There was truly nothing redeeming about the look.

3. Chrissy Teigen

It is not often that Chrissy Teigen is one of the worst dressed at any event, and it seems deviating from her usual style for the Golden Globes didn’t really pay off. Teigen wore an awkward and somewhat bizarre Marchesa metallic gown which, aside from the color, had way too many embellishments which was made worse by a lace peplum waist and lace around the neckline.

2. Jessica Chastain

This year’s Golden Globes proved that deep plunging necklines are definitely back in, but Jessica Chastain completely missed the mark. The actress donned a powder blue dress which just barely kept her from having a double wardrobe malfunction. The placing of the sleeves and neckline made it seem like the dress was perhaps a size or two too small, and the floral detailing seemed out of place.

1. Zoe Saldana

While it is true that the ever stunning Zoe Saldana can pull just about any look off, her Golden Globes dress was simply not flattering. The Guardians of the Galaxy actress chose a two toned Gucci gown with coral and pink, lots of ruffles and a gold wrap belt. The overdone ruffles on the dress made the whole thing seem simply a little too haphazard and thrown together especially when compared to some of the night’s best gowns.
