Camila Cabello Opens Up About PDA On Social Media After A Fan Calls It “Too Much”
Published on November 28, 2019.On Tuesday, singer Camila Cabello opened up about how she feels about PDA with her boyfriend, musician Shawn Mendes, in an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast with Greg James after a fan called in for the “unpopular opinion” segment of the morning show.
The fan who called in said she thinks Cabello’s “public displays of affection on Instagram are too much.”
The singer then admitted that the couple is known to show some PDA – especially after the video of her and Mendes making out awkwardly on social media in September – and she understands why some people might be put off about it.
“Ouch,” the 22-year-old singer said, jokingly. “Well. I feel personally targeted. I feel personally attacked. Yeah, PDA is terrible. Kissing in public? I don’t even…”
Although Cabello said she agreed with the caller’s opinion of why gushing over your significant over is a bit “too much,” but she added that having her every single move documented by paparazzi has “desensitized” her to how annoying PDA can be.
“The problem with you, Camila, and with Shawn as well, is that people are trying to take photos of you all the time,” said the host of the radio show.
“I know, you honestly get kind of desensitized to it,” Cabello admitted. “You’re like, well, might as well just make out on Instagram. Might as well!”
Cabello and Mendes were first romantically involved after releasing “Señorita” and being spotted together on numerous occasions over the summer, holding hands and kissing in public.
The singer also revealed to Rolling Stone last week that the pair had a connection way back in 2015 when they collaborated on the song “I Know What You Did Last Summer” together. Also, when they spent time together while working on “Señorita”: “[I]t just brought it back.”
Recently, the couple performed their hit “Señorita” during the 2019 American Music Awards show on Sunday night and teased fans in the audience and viewers at home with an almost kiss. At the end of their performance, Cabello nudged her nose against Mendes’ and the crowd went wild.
After the duo won the Collaboration of the Year award at the AMAs, the singer declared her love for the musician in an Instagram post.
“i love u @shawnmendes thank u for being so there for me yesterday and every other day, u have the most caring and beautiful heart in the world !” Cabello captioned the post alongside a black-and-white photo of the two holding hands.
“thanks to all our fans for voting , we love and appreciate you guys so much and are so thankful for you ❤️,” she concluded the post.
Her other-half also shared a similar sentiment in an Instagram post of his own, he wrote, “@amas thank you everyone thank you so much!! ❤️ also @camila_cabello i admire you so much you unbelievable human being thank you for being you ❤️❤️ we love u guys.”
