What’s the best thing about soap operas? Some fans may argue that the over-the-top storylines are a guilty pleasure, while other viewers love the drama and adventure. With that said, many audiences tune in to see their favorite super couples fall in and out of love! As Fame 10 continues to reflect on the best (and worst) of daytime drama this year, today we rank the greatest soap opera couples of 2021!

13. Y&R’s Vicky and Ashland

This might be a contentious super couple pick, as The Young and the Restless (Y&R) fans have mixed emotions about the Ashland-Vicky romance. Everyone might not be a fan; however, when was the last time viewers saw Victoria Newman this happy with a man? Plus, they make a fantastic corporate power couple. Vic and Ash struggled significantly with Locke’s secrets leading up to their wedding and have had to deal with his health issues, too. But at the end of the day, both seem to be on the same page about what they want out of life, business and romance.

12. DOOL’s Abby and Chad

Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) Chad and Abigail struggled for most of 2021, and many fans thought they wouldn’t “make it” without separating by the holidays. The good news is that despite him sleeping with her half-sister on New Year’s Eve, plus all of Gwen’s manipulations, they are finally back on track. What kind of adventures are in store for “Chabby” come 2022? Here’s hoping whatever they face, they deal with the drama together.

11. Y&R’s Amanda and Devon

For a while there, any time most fans looked at Amanda, they saw Hilary, which is why some audiences felt that Sinclair and Devon might not “work” together. They were wrong! The two have a very different spark than what Curtis shared with Hamilton, and a ton of chemistry. Will these two take a marital leap in 2022? Maybe expand their family? Watching Devon with Dominic makes some viewers feel as if he might be ready.

10. DOOL’s Marlena and John

John and Marlena have been on shaky ground since the end of September, and that’s all the Devil’s fault. With that said, it won’t take long for the power of their love to squash Satan and have him gone for good. Marlena and John have a timeless romance that keeps fans on the edges of their seats, even after all these years.

9. GH’s Willow and Michael

General Hospital’s (GH) Willow and Michael were one of the very few couples who got along in Port Charles for the majority of the year. Generally in the land of soaps, opposites attract; however, Michael and Willow are an exception to this rule. Both have a heart of gold, fight for what’s right, and are all-around good people. Could wedding bells be ringing for these two in 2022?

8. DOOL’s Kayla and Steve

Even after all these years, Kayla and Steve are simply adorable on-screen. They hit a rocky patch (pun intended) during the whole Tripp-Allie-Charlie fiasco, but since learning the truth about Henry’s paternity, the super couple has been stronger than ever. They may be grandparents, but these two have timeless chemistry in Salem.

7. Y&R’s Lily and Billy

Despite Billy’s antics, ego, and bad decision-making, this soap opera super couple works. They made an excellent team running Chance Comm and they make an even better pair outside of the office. Sure, the Jesse Gaines debacle means they won’t be taking Genoa City’s media world by storm anymore, but here’s hoping there are plenty more romantic adventures for “Bi-Li” in 2022.

6. GH’s Britt and Jason

The nice thing about Jason and Britt is that at least they came together (sort of) before Stone Cold’s untimely passing. Simply put, the pairing felt right. Both had street smarts, real smarts, and sparks flew from the moment she examined him after his motorcycle accident, circa late 2020. Sadly, the two split in August when Jason and Carly decided to wed; however, once Sonny returned, all bets were off with that romance. Fans will never know just how far Britt and Jason would’ve gone as a couple, but the romance was nice to watch while it lasted.

5. DOOL’s Ciara and Ben

Ciara and Ben had a rocky year, filled with ups and downs. Not only did Weston go on a mission to find his wife once she returned to Salem, but he also had to work twice as hard to jog her memory. But all the work, effort and stress were worth it. Ciara and Ben are happier and stronger than ever, with a baby on board. The Devil is causing them trouble, but it’s only a matter of time before Salem’s heroes rid the little town of evil. Will parenthood cause stress in 2022, or bond the two closer than ever?

4. Y&R’s Summer and Kyle

Summer and Kyle are currently living their best lives in Italy, but that doesn’t mean they get disqualified from this best couples list. After all, they spent the majority of their time in Genoa City this year. It was a close call for Summer and Kyle when his ex, Tara, strolled into town with a bombshell of a baby secret, not to mention the feelings she still had for Kyle. However, despite all the misunderstandings and lies, “Skyle” came back together when the truth was revealed and is on a roll (off-canvas, of course). On a sour note, fans are a tad bitter that they never got even a small peek at their nuptials, but the good news is that viewers did get to see them in “happily ever after” mode at Vic and Ash’s wedding.

3. GH’s Sasha and Brando

Sasha and Brando are the couple GH fans never thought they needed. They are two amazing characters who have unexpectedly come together this year to form a special, fun and sweet relationship. Romance can be scarce for new parents juggling diaper changes and midnight feedings, and with Baby Liam’s health in question, Brando and Sasha are in for an uphill battle. However, if Brando continues to be an understanding and attentive partner and daddy, while Sasha remains patient and strong, they might be able to make it.

2. DOOL’s Lani and Eli

While Lani and Eli have struggled this year with their twins’ kidnapping, Kristen DiMera’s antics, awkward moments with Chanel, and all of Paulina’s secrets finally revealed, the good news is their relationship stood strong throughout all these challenges. What will 2022 bring for “Elani”? Here’s hoping for more romance, love and happiness.

1. Y&R’s Nikki and Victor

The Moustache and Nikki have never been more on top of their romance game. Have they finally reached a point in their relationship where they understand each other’s needs, as well as how to effectively communicate and avoid drama between each other? Looks like it! As long as Victor and Nikki remain honest with each other, and refrain from keeping secrets, they can continue this high wave as 2022 hits.
